"Beauty"

The world’s shortest story behind a painting… God told me to paint his beauty. (!) But seriously… where do you even start? And how humbling that command is to one who cannot even begin to grasp the beauty of the living God. But I love sunrises and oceans and life and the painting became gradually clear as I dove into the process. Paintings often emerge in that fashion for me. I get an idea or a word or an image and then I just kind of plunge in. Such a system is not conducive to the studied and studious photo-realism or portraiture or any number of formal ways of painting. Fortunately I have never claimed to be studious or anything else “important” and hence can revel in the process!
