I had never really attempted that frightening art of painting “people”. My favorite artists in history have so wonderfully captured the beauty and variety of humanity that I grow frustrated with my own attempts. This day was somehow different. The work ceased to be about my ability and became about the picture. She is joyous and strong and whole and pure, all because of her Beloved. Her banner IS her Lover.
